I've developed a modular domain name protocol called Punk Domains. The protocol can issue multiple domain extensions and is geared towards servicing DAOs and other web3 communities. Among DAOs and web3 communities that already have domain extensions via Punk Domains are PoolTogether DAO, KlimaDAO, Smol Brains NFT community (part of the Treasure DAO), Giveth DAO etc. The Punk Domains protocol is just the first step in helping DAOs move their community interactions from web2 to web3. I see domains as usernames and identity in the web3 world, especially in Web3 Social. To enable transitioning from web2 social (e.g. Discords) to web3 social, we've built an open source web3 social template (sort of like Wordpress for Web3 Social), called Iggy Social. With this template, any DAO can set up their own web3 social website - and some already did (https://sgb.chat, https://chat.basepunk.xyz, https://flr.chat). Posts are stored on IPFS (via Ceramic) and there's no web2 backend needed. A web3 social site created with Iggy is frontend only and can easily run on IPFS. Our mission is to help DAOs transition from web2 social channels to web3, and to enable truly community owned chats & social networks.
